A contingent of Air NCC cadets from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) recently participated in the 10-day Annual Training Camp (ATC) organized by 1 J&K Air Squadron NCC at Udhampur. Notably, this was the first camp conducted by the 1 J&K Air Squadron NCC, witnessing the enthusiastic participation of 334 cadets from various institutions across the region. Cadet Charvi Thakur served as the Senior Cadet, guiding and motivating her peers throughout the camp with dedication and leadership.
The cadets underwent a structured schedule including Physical Training (PT), drill sessions, and theory classes covering topics such as Principles of Flight, Aero Engine, Air Wing Procedures, Weapon Training, Health and Hygiene, and First Aid. A joint firing practice session with Army cadets further enhanced their practical training experience. They also benefited from guest lectures delivered by distinguished experts on a range of subjects.
A number of competitions were organized during the camp to test the cadets’ leadership, teamwork, and creative abilities. SMVDU cadets performed exceptionally well in events like Poster Making, Games competition, Firing Competition, Drill Square Test, and Debate. Their commendable performance was appreciated by the Commanding Officer of the Air NCC Sqn.
Cadet Mukti Porwal secured 2nd position in the Poster Making competition under the SW category on the theme “World Nature Conservation and Environmental Protection.” In the Debate competition, Cadet Saher clinched the 1st position on the topic “In today’s world, protective upbringing does more harm than good to women’s empowerment.”
The camp concluded with a grand Cultural Night, where cadets dressed in vibrant attire showcased their talents through music and dance. SMVDU cadets Bhumi, Kritika, Saher, and Shivangi enthralled the audience with their captivating dance performances, making the night a memorable celebration of unity, culture, and youthful spirit.
