A patent has been granted to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University for an invention entitled “METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR MONITORING FACE POSTURE” for the term of 20 years in accordance with the provisions of the Patents Act, 1970 by the controller of patents, Indian patent office, Government of India, with Patent No.: 469540. The inventors of this patent are Dr. Abhishek Gupta (former faculty member of SMVDU, currently working as Senior Scientist at CSIR – Central Scientific Instruments Organisation Chandigarh) and Dr. Manoj Kumar Gupta, Associate Professor, School of Computer Science & Engineering, SMVDU. This is the first patent which has been granted in the name of SMVD University as an Applicant. The patented technique discusses capturing, at a predetermined interval, at least an image of one or more users, present in front of a user device, the at least an image comprising a still image or a moving image, detecting face of the one or more users from at least one of the captured image, and identifying a plurality of facial landmarks from the at least one detected face of the one or more users present in the captured image.
