Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, has been conferred with the Certificates by Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Indian Space Research Organization, Department of Space, Govt. of India for successful University participation and conduct of IIRS outreach programmes during the year 2018 and 2019. Ar. Aditya Kumar Singh, University Coordinator-IIRS Outreach Program, handed over the certificates to Prof. Ravindra Kumar Sinha, Vice Chancellor in the presence of Dr. Sumeet Gupta, Dean (Academics), Dr. A. K. Das, Director IQAC and Mr. Vinod Sharma, Administrative Officer.
Prof. Sinha asserted the significance of GIS as a multidisciplinary application linking the areas from Geology to Urban & Landscape Design. He admired the stupendous initiative of the University Coordinator for enhancing the capacities of the University. Further, Ar. Aditya Kumar Singh informed that with the Lab capacities in GIS, the School of Architecture & Landscape Design, SMVD University shall be soon offering PG programmes in Architecture & Landscape Design as a maiden initiative in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University has been imparting the outreach training programmes of Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Indian Space Research Organization, Department of Space, Govt. of India, in the field of GIS and Remote sensing since 2016. These are being coordinated online by Ar. Aditya Kumar Singh, Faculty, SMVDU as the University Coordinator to facilitate the interested faculty, staff and students for various outreach programmes of IIRS at the SMVD University.
