One-Day Workshop on Real World Applications of Power Electronics held at SMVDU under PM-USHA Scheme

A one-day workshop on ‘Real World Applications of Power Electronics’ was conducted at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. The workshop was organized by the School of Electrical Engineering, SMVDU, and sponsored by the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA), Government of India, aiming to improve knowledge and research practices in the field of power electronics. The event began with an inaugural address by Dr. Tirumalasetty Chiranjeevi, Associate Professor, SoEE, who outlined the significance of the workshop from both the students and faculty’s perspectives. Following this, Dr. Ankireddy Narendra, Assistant Professor, SoEE, introduced the expert Dr. Arun Kumar Verma, Associate Professor from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IIT Jammu). The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from all students, teaching and non-teaching members of SoEE including Dr. Kamal Deep, Dr. Prabhu Omer, Mr. Akash Deep, Mr. Shubham Chip and Dr. Vikram Kumar. Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, conveyed his best wishes and described the importance of power electronics and their future aspects. Dr. Arun Kumar Verma, during his detailed session, shared valuable insights on real world applications of power electronics. The session was carried out with an interactive discussion and Q&A session from the participants. The workshop was concluded with a felicitation of the guest by Prof. Kumud Ranjan Jha, Dean Faculty of Engineering and HOD SoEE, and Prof. Bhola Jha, SoEE. The vote of thanks wasgiven by Dr. Jatinkumar Soni, Assistant Professor, SoEE. This workshop is expected to strengthen all the participants’ knowledge of real world applications of power electronics.
