SMVDU Katra, April 2019. School of Architecture & Landscape Design (SoALD), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, organized one day workshop to enhance industry interactions and exposure for B. Arch. Students. Around sixty B. Arch. Students of SMVD University and 18 B. Arch. Students of MAM Architecture College, Jammu participated in the sessions along with the faculty members of SoALD. Prof. Rajeev Garg, Head, School of Architecture & Landscape Design, SMVDU, took the opening session. Also, he extended a welcome address to the participants and delivered talks on Human Values & Ethics. Further, he deliberated on the significance of values in our life and motivated budding professionals to inculcate all good values and exhibit an ethical conduct at all steps in life. Ar. Yatin Padya, an eminent architect, gave a talk on various socio-cultural aspects of architecture and urged the students to develop sensitivity towards these aspects. He emphasized on designing the built environment which is contextual, respond to local climate and which imbibes cultural factors. In post lunch session, Chief Commercial Development Manager, Pidilite Industries, Mr Navneet Sharma, delivered informative yet engaging presentation for the architecture students. The presentation covered several aspects of waterproofing requirements in building during construction as well as in maintenance and application of various Dr Fixit products in buildings. Mr. Mishra also presented company profile with showcasing of building products and the projects executed at various locations. The workshop concluded with a healthy interaction among students, faculty members and the speakers. This event was organized as a part of constant endeavor of SMVD University for Academia-Industry interaction for effective and enhanced learning of students. Principal, MAM Architecture College, Ar Harbinder Pal Singh, and other faculty members of SoALD, including Ar. Anoop K Sharma, Ar. Satyanshu Kumar, Ar. Vinod Kumar were also present in the session.
