School of Architecture & Landscape Design (SoALD) of SMVD University, has successfully conducted the National Workshop titled “EBSCO DATABASE RESEARCH TRAINING IN ARCHITECTURE”. The workshop primarily aimed to encourage & enhancing research capabilities of the students of Architectural Degree program and to familiarize them with advanced digital academic resources. The workshop focused on introducing students to the EBSCO research database, a comprehensive platform that provides access to a vast collection of scholarly journals, case studies, e-books, and industry publications relevant to architecture and allied disciplines.
The speaker, Mr. Ritesh Kumar Jha, Senior Training Manager, North India of EBSCO Information Services emphasized practical learning, enabling participants to navigate the database efficiently, refine search strategies, and access credible, peer-reviewed content for academic and design research. His interaction with the students has not only encouraged the conscious understanding towards architectural writings but also facilitated takeaways of techniques used by Researchers. During the workshop, students were guided through key features such as keyword optimization, subject-specific filtering, citation tools, and downloading full-text resources. Special attention was given to integrating research into architectural design processes, thesis development, and evidence-based decision-making. The interactive format of the workshop allowed students to engage in hands-on real-time exercises.
The workshop was coordinated by the Ar. Aditya Kumar Singh, Associate Professor, SoALD who highlighted the importance of digital research literacy in contemporary architectural education and encouraged students to actively utilize such platforms for innovation, critical thinking, and academic excellence. Ar. Abhiney Gupta, I/c Head, SoALD remarked the beneficial aspects in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical research application. The workshop concluded with a Quiz competition that encouraged active participation, reinforced learning outcomes, and fostered a spirit of healthy competition among students. Top performers were acknowledged for their performance.
Prof. Pragati Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SMVD University congratulated the Workshop Coordinator & the performing students and expressed appreciation for the practical insights gained and the relevance of the training to their academic pursuits.
