Ms. Uma Sharma, Ph. D scholar from the Molecular Biology Lab, School of Biotechnology, recently represented the university at the 66th AMI Annual International Conference & Research Conclave, held at Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University, Dehradun, from 12th to 15th November 2025. Ms. Sharma presented her research paper titled “Screening and Bioprocess Optimization of Endophytic Fungi from Taxus wallichiana for Enhanced Taxol Production.” Her research focuses on identifying high-yielding endophytic fungi and optimizing bioprocess parameters to boost Taxol production, an anticancer compound of immense global relevance. The work highlights eco-friendly and sustainable alternatives to plant-based Taxol extraction, addressing challenges linked to low yield and endangered Taxus populations. Ms. Sharma’s participation provided her with the opportunity to engage with experts in microbial biotechnology, exchange research insights, and gain exposure to contemporary advancements in the field. Expressing her gratitude, Ms. Sharma thanked her supervisor, Dr. Shafaq Rasool, at the School of Biotechnology for her consistent support and encouragement throughout her research journey. She also extended her sincere thanks to Prof. Pragati Kumar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, for providing her the opportunity and institutional support to present her work at a prestigious national platform.
