Ms. Rohini Raina, Scholar at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), received the best paper award at the international conference on Innovation & Research in Science and Technology for Sustainable Development (ICIRSTSD-2023), organized by OP Jindal University Raigarh in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (Ministry of HRD Initiative) on 25-26 May 2023. The conference aimed to provide a platform to present and discuss the most recent sustainable innovations, trends, and concerns, as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the field of science and technology. Ms. Raina presented a paper titled ‘A Review of Machine Learning Approaches for Detection and Classification of Leukemia Disease,’ which is co-authored by Dr. Naveen Kumar Gondhi, Assistant Professor at SMVDU. The research aimed to provide insight into various computer-assisted diagnoses for the early detection and classification of leukemia, a type of blood cancer, at a reduced cost. The experts at the conference appreciated the work carried out by Ms. Raina and also rewarded her with a cash prize. More than 200 papers were presented by authors from different countries.
