MMTTC Centre, SMVDU Organizes 8-Days Online NEP Orientation and Sensitization Programme

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, inaugurated an 8-days Online Orientation and Sensitization Programme on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, being held from 8th – 17th December, 2025. The event witnessed enthusiastic involvement from faculty members across the nation, with large no. of participants registering on the official UGC-MMTTC portal like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya, Assam, Haryana, Odisha.

The inaugural session began with a welcome address by Dr. Shashi Bhushan Kotwal, Coordinator of the Programme. In his address, Dr. Shashi B. Kotwal warmly welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of continuous professional development for educators in aligning teaching practices with the vision and objectives of NEP 2020. Prof. Suparn Kumar Sharma, Director, MMTTC Centre, SMVDU, delineated the goals of the programme, highlighting its focus on familiarizing participants with the key tenets and transformative vision of the National Education Policy. He underscored the pivotal role of NEP 2020 in shaping the future trajectory of Indian education, emphasizing innovation, inclusivity, and multidisciplinary learning as the cornerstones of national progress.

Prof. Sharada M. Potukuchi, Deputy Director, MMTTC-Centre, encouraged the participants to embrace this opportunity to learn, collaborate, and contribute to the future of education. The 8-days programme is structured around eight thematic domains of NEP 2020, namely: Holistic and Multidisciplinary Education; Information and Communication Technology; Teacher Education and Capacity Building; Research, Innovation, and Knowledge Creation; Assessment, Accreditation, and Quality Assurance; Technology Integration in Education; Indian Knowledge Systems; Institutional Governance and Leadership. Each domain is addressed through expert-led sessions, interactive discussions, and case-based learning to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of NEP 2020’s guiding principles and actionable frameworks.

Participants from distinguished Universities and Colleges across various regions of the country were specifically chosen to highlight the importance of providing training and skill development to faculty members for the effective and seamless implementation of NEP-2020 at their respective institutions. A vote of thanks was also proposed by Dr. Anil K. Bhardwaj, who thanked Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, for his constant support and guidance. His encouragement and commitment have been instrumental in promoting continuous professional development and in aligning SMVDU’s academic endeavours with the national vision for education.The 8-day programme features expert lectures, interactive sessions, and discussions designed to deepen understanding of NEP 2020’s implementation strategies, best practices, and its impact on higher education.

The initiative is yet another step by SMVDU’s MMTTC Centre towards building a robust ecosystem for teacher training and educational excellence in India.Other Members of SMVDU-MMTTC included Prof. Raghvendra K. Mishra, Prof. Ankush Anand, Dr. Sunanda, Dr. Kamaldeep, Dr. Pabitra Jena and Staff Members of the organizing committee of MMTTC-SMVDU who also assisted in smooth conduct and successful execution of the Programme.
