A transformative “Meditation Experience Session” was organized on 4th Nov’ 2025 by the School of Computer Science and Engineering (SoCSE), School of Architecture and Landscape Design (SoALD) and the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) in collaboration with Isha Foundation. The session was held at the Matrika Auditorium, attracting enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, scholars and staff.

The event aimed to introduce participants to the profound benefits of meditation and mindfulness, fostering inner balance and mental clarity amidst today’s fast-paced academic environment. The resource person for the session was Dr. Siya Malhotra from Jammu, a renowned meditation practitioner and coordinator of Isha Center at Jammu.

During her address, Dr. Malhotra spoke about the science and spirituality behind meditation, emphasizing its positive impact on emotional stability, concentration, and overall well-being. Participants were guided through a practical meditation experience using the “Miracle of Mind” app, which has been designed to help users deepen their awareness and enhance focus through guided practices. The app served as a valuable digital companion during the session, making meditation accessible and engaging for the university’s tech-savvy student community.

The session was followed by an interactive discussion, where attendees shared their experiences and reflections. Many students expressed that the program offered a much-needed opportunity for self-introspection and stress relief from their regular academic schedules.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Sunanda, Head of the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Ar. Abhiney Gupta, Head of the School of Architecture and Landscape Design, and Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Coordinator of the NSS unit along with Dr. Sakshi Arora, Ar. Navin Gupta and Dr. Kamaldeep. Their collective efforts ensured the smooth execution of the program and meaningful engagement from all participants.

A special vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Sharda Pottukuchi from the School of Biotechnology, who expressed gratitude to the Isha Foundation team and the university administration for supporting such a valuable initiative. She highlighted how sessions like these contribute to holistic education by nurturing not only intellectual growth but also emotional and spiritual well being.

Prof. Pragati Kumar, Hon’ble Vice – Chancellor of SMVDU congratulated the organizing team for holding such a purposeful session. He appreciated the initiative for offering students a chance to pause, introspect, and reconnect with themselves—an experience often missed amidst the rigors of modern education.

The event concluded on a positive note leaving participants inspired to incorporate meditation into their daily lives for sustained personal growth and mental wellness
