SMVDU organizes Webinar with NITI Aayog & BSM on National Education Policy (NEP) 2020

SMVDU Katra, A national level online seminar, in collaboration with Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal (BSM) and NITI Aayog, and supported by TEQIP III, was organized by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University on the Role of Teachers in NEP Implementation – Awareness, Orientation, Challenges & Responses’ on 10th March 2021.

Prof. R.K. Sinha, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, presided over the webinar, while Prof. Balu Anand Chopde, National Head Research Cell BSM and former VC of BAM University, Aurangabad was the guest of honor. Prof. N. Shiv Prakash, former Prof. IISc Bangalore and Member Board of Governors of JNTUCE Hyderabad, delivered the keynote address on the importance of RISE in NEP 2020. Prof. Shivprakash emphasized on solution oriented pedagogy and preparing the students with the creative skills for solving complex problems and be ready for uncertain challenges. Prof. Chopade underlined that the unique performance of each student, by critical thinking and equal opportunity needs to be focused upon by developing research aptitude. Prof. R.K. Sinha in his presidential address laid down a road map with futuristic education initiatives in NEP 2020.

The webinar had around 150 registered participants from India as well as abroad who deliberated on various themes. The themes on NEP such as Catalyzing Quality Academic Research; Effective Restructuring of the Curriculum in Higher Education; Higher Education in Bharatiya Languages; Inclusive Education for a Harmonious Society fir SEDG; Developing Motivated and Capable Faculty; and Quality Universities and Colleges For Holistic and Multidisciplinary Education.The team leaders for the tracks were, Dr. Balbir Singh, Dr. Ashutosh Vashishtha, Dr. Anil Kr. Tiwari, Dr. Sharda Potukuchi, Dr. Amitabh Vikram Dwivedi, and Dr. Vineet Kr. Tyagi. The brainstorming session attended by senior members from industry and academia in the respective tracks provided for valuable suggestions for the implementation of NEP which shall be sent to Niti Aayog via BSM.

In the valedictory session Prof. Ashok Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Sciences, SMVDU called for regular revisiting of the good practices and benchmarks for the successful implementation of NEP 2020. Dr. Rashi Taggar expressed her thanks to all, including Niti Aayog; BSM Dr. V.K. Bhat, Dean Faculty of Engineering & Chairman, Organizing Committee; Dr. Sumeet Gupta, Dean Academic Affairs, Coordinator of the program; Dr. Parikshit Singh Manhas, Prant Sanyojak of BSM, J&K and Ladakh & Dr. Saurabh, Head, School of Business and Convener of the webinar.
