SMVDU Katra, August 2019. TEQIP-III sponsored weeklong workshop on the role of soft-skills in classroom management concluded at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. The workshop attracted participation from the faculty members of various institutions of Indian states. Padam Shri Prof. Ravindra Kumar Sinha, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries who attended the valedictory session were: Prof. V.K. Bhat, Registrar, SMVDU; Prof. Rajneesh Arora, Director, EFL University, Lucknow Campus; and Dr. Anil K. Tewari, Head, School of Philosophy & Culture, SMVDU. Prof. Sinha emphasised the significance of soft-skills in the effective classroom teaching and management, and appreciated the efforts of the School of Languages & Literature (SoLL) for organising the workshop. Further, he expressed that the School would organise many more academic events in the future. Prof. Nagendra Kumar and Prof. Binod Mishra, Faculty IIT Roorkee, and Prof. Arora, Director, EFLU, Lucknow Campus, were the expert resource persons for the event. Prof. Bhat congratulated Dr. Amitabh V. Dwivedi, Coordinator, Workshop & HoD, SoLL, and the organising team for conducting the workshop on soft-skills, and he stressed that teachers must participate in such events to upgrade their classroom management skills. The organisers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Honourable Vice-Chancellor for his words of encouragement. The event ended with the distribution of certificates to the participants. Dr. Anurag Kumar, Convener, Workshop presented a report on the workshop. Ms. Isha Malhotra and Dr. Simran Preet Kaur, Organising Secretaries, Workshop, presented the formal vote of thanks.
