Students from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) embarked on an enlightening journey to the Air Force Station, Udhampur, where they were treated to a first-hand glimpse into the operations of the Indian Air Force. Organised by Mr. B. K. Bhatia, Training & Placement Officer, SMVDU and Dr. Varun Dutta, Assistant Professor at SMVDU, the visit provided students with an unparalleled opportunity to interact with Air Force personnel and witness the marvels of aviation up close.
Students were also engaged in insightful interactions with Air Force personnel, delving into discussions about the roles and responsibilities of those serving in the Air Force. From learning about the intricacies of flight operations to understanding the rigorous training undergone by Air Force pilots, students gained invaluable insights into the life and work of these dedicated individuals.
In addition to this, they visited Air Force school located at the Air force station and had the privilege of interacting with the Garud Commandos, the specialized force of the Indian Air Force trained for special operations. As they engaged in discussions with these highly skilled personnel, students gained a deeper understanding of the rigorous training and unparalleled dedication required to serve in such a specialized unit.
Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the organizing team in orchestrating such a memorable visit. Recognizing the significance of experiential learning opportunities, Prof. Kumar emphasized the importance of initiatives that broaden students’ horizons beyond traditional classroom settings. The visit to the Air Force Station, Udhampur served not only as a source of inspiration but also as a testament to SMVDU’s commitment to providing holistic education. By fostering interactions between academia and real-world practitioners, SMVDU continues to equip its students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their future endeavors.
