SMVDU Katra: The prestigious 5G & IoT Lab at Department of Electronics and communication Engineering SMVDU Katra is inaugurated by Dr. Jitender Chhadda, Senior Director Operations and Strategy, Intel India. The lab was inaugurated in presence of the Vice-Chancellor SMVDU Dr. Sanjeev Jain, Head of the Department Dr. K. R. Jha and Coordinator of The Lab Dr. Rakesh Jha. Dr Chaddha was immensely impressed by the infrastructure and work quality being carried out in the Lab. After the inaugural, he had detailed interaction with the coordinator of the lab along with the Ph.D., M.Tech. and B. Tech. students of the department working in the Lab. Students demonstrated their live work to the Intel Director. It is pertinent to mention here that a prestigious lab of this sort is even not available in leading IITs and NITs in the country. This lab was set-up in collaboration with Intel India under education program of Intel FiCE for Indian Universities. The coordinator of the lab Dr. Jha briefed the Intel Director about the achievements of University being carried out in this Lab. The major thrust areas of work being carried out in this lab are Green Communication, security issues, smart agriculture, smart campus, smart city and health monitoring systems. Vice-Chancellor also briefed the Intel Director about various initiatives and achievements of the University being in vogue at the department and University at large.

The inauguration was followed by a special lecture and interactive session by Dr. Chaddha in the Matrika Auditorium, in which he highlighted the important steps in the transformation from a student’s life to a professional life. He appealed to students to have at least a 20 year vision what they wish to be and achieve and what steps are necessary to be taken to realize the vision. He further emphasized that the only thing which in control of the students is the curiosity, the students should be willing to know and learn more and the possible areas of the application of the knowledge, e.g., an electronics student should know how electronics is used in different fields of technology and makes the world change, and how it connects to the divergent fields like agriculture, space, healthcare etc. He also added that ethics and integrity is inevitable for success and becoming a role model for others. Without ethics one can achieve a lot and become great technologists or a businessman but cannot be a role model for others and hence in real sense cannot succeed in life. The session was followed by extensive interaction. Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjeev Jain felicitated Dr. Chaddha by presenting a memento. Registrar Prof. V. K. Bhat, Dean Faculty of Humanities Dr. Vandana Sharma, Training and Placement Officer Mr. B. K. Bhatia and many other faculty members and all engineering students were present.
