Dr. Bharat Bhushan Jindal, Faculty, School of Civil Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University conducted an expert session on “Scope of Research in Geopolymer Concrete utilizing Industrial Waste and Recycled Aggregates for Environmental friendly Construction” in the Online Faculty Development Program on “Innovation and Latest trends in Construction Materials and Techniques.” The program was organized by the National Institutes of Technical Teachers’ Training & Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh, and took place from 17th -28th July 2023 in ICT mode. The Faculty Development Program aimed to provide up-to-date knowledge on developments in the field of construction materials to teachers from Polytechnics, Engineering Colleges, Industry personnel, and PhD scholars from all over India. During the session, Dr. Jindal focused on the impact of population growth leading to increased demand for infrastructure development and its effect on cement manufacturing, which contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions. He highlighted the alarming issues of global warming caused by the release of greenhouse gases during cement production. Additionally, Dr. Jindal emphasized the importance of utilizing various agricultural and industrial waste materials and demolition wastes in the development of Geopolymer Concrete. He informed the faculty members about the latest advancements in geopolymer concrete technology and its applications in construction, pavements, and tunnel repairs. Furthermore, Dr. Jindal provided guidance to research scholars on identifying research gaps in the field of sustainable building materials. The talk was well-received by participants and research aspirants attending the program.
