BOS and Curriculum Workshop held at School of Electronics & Communication Engineering, SMVDU

The School of Electronics & Communication Engineering (SoECE) at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, convened the Board of Studies (BoS) meeting on March 6th, 2024, to address critical academic matters concerning the field of Electronics & Communication Engineering. The first session started with a discussion on curriculum with Prof. Suresh Devasahayam, IIT Jammu. His valuable inputs are of great significance in finalizing the NEP structure for the 2023-24 batch onwards.  Distinguished attendees included the External Expert members of the Board of Studies, Prof. Rajeshwari Pandey and  Dr. Yashna Sharma from Delhi Technological University. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Pragati Kumar, the Vice Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. The meeting also includes Dr. K.R. Jha, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Sumeet Gupta, Faculty In-Charge Examination, NEP Coordinator of the SoECE, Dr.Vikram Singh, BoS Member Secretary and faculty members of SoECE. 

The primary agenda of the meeting centered around the adaptation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework for the B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering program, focusing on integrating Honors and Minor specializations. This adaptation aims to align the curriculum with the transformative vision outlined in the NEP 2020, fostering multidisciplinary learning and skill development. Faculty members of SoECE presented the proposed syllabi, meticulously designed to incorporate the NEP 2020 directives while ensuring adherence to the AICTE guidelines. The BoS engaged in comprehensive discussions to tailor the curriculum, emphasizing holistic development, industry relevance, and research orientation. During the proceedings, Prof. Pragati Kumar, the Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, underscored the significance of embracing the NEP 2020 framework, fostering a conducive learning environment that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Dr. Anil Bhardwaj, the Head of SoECE, thanked the esteemed participants for their invaluable contributions to advancing educational standards. He emphasized the university’s commitment to implementing the NEP 2020 directives effectively, ensuring the holistic development of students and preparing them for the challenges of the future.
