IIC, SMVDU organized Two Day Workshop on Innovative Sustainable Design

The School of Energy Management and the School of Architecture & Landscape Design, under the patronage of the Institute Innovation Council (IIC), jointly organized a two-day intra-institute workshop on Innovative Sustainable Design at SMVDU with an aim to nurture creativity, collaboration, and sustainable development. The workshop intends to bring together faculty, staff, and students to explore cutting-edge concepts, exchange ideas, and develop solutions to address persistent environmental challenges. The inaugural session commenced with Ar. Abhiney Gupta, Asst. Prof. at SoALD, extending a warm welcome to the distinguished guests, including Prof. Pragati Kumar, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, along with faculty members, resource persons, and enthusiastic students. The Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of organising such workshops which help to pool innovative ideas of the young minds. He added that sustainable design plays a crucial role in shaping a better future for generations to come. As we face challenging issues such as climate change, resource depletion, and environmental degradation, it is vital that we harness the power of innovation to create solutions that are both ecologically sound and socially responsible. The workshop featured a diverse range of sessions, including expert presentations and hands-on workshops. Participants had the opportunity to engage with experts in the field, share their insights and experiences, and collaborate on projects that promote sustainability and innovation. Prof. Ashutosh Vaishstha, Dean Faculty of Management and Chairperson, IIC SMVDU stated that by bringing together stakeholders from across our institution, we hope to nurture interdisciplinary collaboration and encourage the cross-pollination of ideas. Through this collective effort, we aim to inspire positive change and empower individuals to become catalysts for sustainable development in their respective fields. Dr. Sanjeev Anand, Associate Dean R&D, said that this workshop is part of IIC 6.0 Calendar Activities for Academic Year 2023-24 given by the Ministry of Education`s Innovation Cell and the best innovations will be rewarded. Dr. Yatheshth Anand, Assistant Professor, School of Mechanical Engineering and coordinator of the workshop explained about the details of the workshop and how the innovations will be evaluated and rewarded. The session progressed with enlightening presentations by notable resource persons. Ar. C L Razdan, former Director of the School of Architecture at SMVDU, captivated the audience with his discourse on the retrofitting project at Pahalgam, offering a profound learning experience for the attending students. It was followed by Er. Vaneet Aggarwal from BeeKay Protection Systems who shared pioneering advancements in home security, safety, and fire-fighting technologies, enriching the discourse with practical innovations aimed at enhancing residential safety standards.

The Inaugural session was attended by experts, Ar. C. L. Razdan, Mr. Vaneet Agarwal, BEE Protection and Dr. Vineet Tyagi, Dean R&D, Ar. Aditya Kumar Singh, Head, SoALD, Ar. Navin Gupta, Assistant Professor, SoALD, Ar. Abhimanyu Gupta, Assistant Professor, SoALD. The workshop not only served as a platform for knowledge dissemination but also ignited a spirit of inquiry and exploration among participants, reaffirming the commitment of SMVDU towards fostering a culture of innovation and sustainability in academia and beyond.
