NSS SMVDU volunteers participated in National Adventure Camp at Manali

NSS volunteers from SMVDU, Katra, participated in a 10-day National Adventure Camp at Manali, organized by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS), Manali. The camp, funded by the Regional Directorate of NSS, New Delhi, saw a total of 67 participants, including 04 from SMVDU. They embarked on a challenging 95km trek, reaching an altitude of 10,100 feet.

The camp focused on enhancing mountaineering skills, covering aspects like mountain manners, hazard management, and engaging in activities such as rock climbing, rappelling, and river crossing. Beyond physical challenges, the camp aimed to develop social awareness and leadership skills. The success of the event was credited to the expertise of ABVIMAS and the enthusiasm of the volunteers, showcasing teamwork and camaraderie.

The NSS volunteers who participated in the camp were Abhishek Sharma, Dhiraj, Sumegha, and Shreya Gupta. NSS coordinator Dr. Rajiv Kumar and co-coordinator Dr. Kamaldeep congratulated the volunteers for successfully completing the National Camp. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pragti Kumar appreciated the efforts of the NSS volunteers and congratulated them for bringing laurels to the University.
