On the occasion of Independence Day, 15th August 2023, Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, the Vice-Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, unfurled the tricolour flag. In a compelling address, he highlighted India’s journey towards becoming a self-sufficient and developed nation, underlining the significance of domestic production for Indians. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of administrative staff, faculty members, and students. A grand 146-feet-tall-Indian flag (30F x 45F), proudly hoisted, added a sense of national pride and patriotism to the atmosphere. This monumental tricolour, waving with vitality, warmly welcomes visitors from kilometres away as they approach the heart of SMVD University in the Central Courtyard of the Administrative Block. The celebration featured captivating performances by students, accompanied by the distribution of sweets to commemorate the occasion. A noteworthy addition to the festivities was the launch of the newly designed SMVDU website (www.smvdu.ac.in) by the Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU at the Matrika Auditorium, marking another milestone on this significant day of national importance.
