Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, initiated a plantation drive for the 2022 season on World Environment Day on 5th June 2022. The drive was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Ravindra Kumar Sinha (Padma Shri) along with Sh. Navneet Singh (IFS), Additional Chief Executive Officer, SMVD Shrine Board. On this occasion, several types of plants including Pipal, Neem, Palash, Amla, Ashok, Loquat, Kaut, Bela, etc. were planted by the dignitaries present. Dean, Faculty of Science Prof. Ashok Sharma, Dr. M. Sharada Potukuchi, Dean, Academic Affairs, Dean, Faculty of Management, Dr. Supran Sharma, and several Heads of Schools and Sections participated in the drive. The plantation drive was facilitated by Sh. Vinay Khajuria, ACF, SMVD Shrine Board, Sh. Surinder Singh, Security Officer, SMVDU, Foresters from SMVDSB Sh. Hitesh Khajuria and Sh. Chander Kumar, Forest Watcher Sh. Subash Chander along with the helping staff members from SMVDSB Sh. Sunil Kumar, Sh. Sunil Tagotra, Sh. Ram Lal, Sh. Mohd. Sadiq, and SMVDU members of housekeeping. The drive concluded with light refreshment at the VC Residence. A vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Madhu Mangal Chaturvedi, Faculty I/C, University Social Responsibility, SMVDU.
