An ICSSR sponsored workshop (21 March-02 April, 2022) on “Strategy and Sustainable Development” under Capacity Building Program, organized by the School of Business, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) in which twenty participants from various Indian states registered for the event. The workshop is being organized in the academic collaboration of the Strategic Management Forum of India and Research for Resurgence Foundation, said Dr. Deepak Jain, Course Co-Director.
In the inaugural address, Prof. R. K. Sinha, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, emphasized developing the strategic approach to achieve 17 Sustainable Development Goals as defined by the United Nations. He said that the academicians and researchers have to come forward to look into each contemporary issue in the sustainable development goals and define the interventions for the achievement of these goals. Prof. Arunaditya Sahay, founder member of Strategic Management Forum of India, said that we need to learn from our ancient Bhartiya wisdom and reflect on how can we create winning opportunities for the sustainability of the society.
Shri Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Registrar, SMVDU, briefed the audience on the commitment of the University for green campus, and said that the University has been in the Global SGD ranking. Dr. Suparn Kr. Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Management, SMVDU, asked for creating the balance in economic profit and social goals. Previously, Dr. Saurabh, Head, School of Business introduced the audience to the concept of strategy and sustainability and briefed the participants about the various benefits of sustainability in business. The event ended with a formal vote of thanks.
