Workshop on Waste Management in Residential Society concluded in SMVDU

One day online workshop on “Waste Management in Residential Society” was organized by Faculty Development Centre (FDC) under Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching Scheme of GoI in collaboration with School of Mechanical Engineering (SoME) in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. Dr. Balbir Singh, Convener, welcomed all participants across 16 states of country.

Prof. M. Eswaramurthy, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, stressed the importance and implementation of 3Rs Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Dr. Supran Sharma, FDC Coordinator, stressed the need of earning environmental credit through start-up and entrepreneur approaches. Sh. Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Registrar, SMVDU emphasised for proper collection and scientific disposal.

Prof. RK Sinha, VC, SMVDU, expressed his concern on the solid waste, liquid waste and gaseous waste emanating from every family unit endangering environment and its inhabitants.Dr.Kalpana Arora, Program Lead, Society for Economic and Social Studies (NGO) New Delhi, expert in workshop addressed the issue in depth on management of household solid waste and kitchen waste and urged all members to move towards rapid composting. Another expert, Mr. Parveen Nayak, Director, M/s. Garbage Clinic & Infratech Private Limited from Greater Noida advocated for all bulk generator to adopt sustainable working model of Choudry Charan Singh University, Meerut, Swachhata Model ‘Swachhata Prerna Udhyan’. Dr. Ankush Anand, Co-Convener, delivered the vote of thanks.
