The School of Philosophy and Culture, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), in collaboration with Regional Center, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), organized a national webinar on “Jewels of Jammu: Basholi School of miniature paintings” on December 04, 2021.The speakers were Prof. Richa Kamboj, Artist, Art historian & Critic, and Executive Board Member Lalit Kala Akademi, National Akademi of Art, New Delhi, Dr. Sangeeta Sharma, Assistant Director, Archives, Archaeology and Museum, Jammu and Dr Monica K Bagga, Artist and Art historian, Chandigarh.
Dr. Virendra Bangroo, Regional Director, IGNCA moderated the session. He emphasized on the study of Sanskrit and Sanskriti for better understanding the dynamics of Indian art and culture. Prof. Richa Kamboj in her keynote address said that the stylistic evolution of the Basholi School of miniature paintings, with the impressive visual presentation of the folios of the Rasamanjari series, Gita Govinda and Tantric devi series.Shri Sumanta Sarathi Sharma, HOD, School of Philosophy and Culture delivered a formal vote of thanks, to all eminent speakers and participants. He further expressed his gratitude to the SMVD University administration and IGNCA New Delhi.
