Webinar on World Philosophy Day Organized at SMVDU

The School of Philosophy & Culture (SoPC) at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) celebrated the day on November 19, 2021 to mark the 552nd birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a philosopher, preacher, noble soul and the founder of Sikhism. In this context, a webinar was organized by School of Philosophy & Culture (SoPC), Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat (EBSB) at SMVD University in collaboration with Regional Centre, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) New Delhi.

The speakers of this webinar were Dr. Gurcharan Singh, Shri Gurdeep Singh, Shri Navtej Singh, Shri Inayat Gul and Shri Param Jeet Singh. Shri Sumanta Sarathi Sharma, Head, Philosophy and Culture and Faculty Coordinator, EBSB gave an introduction about the World Philosophy Day and contribution of great seers and saints. Dr. Virendra Bangroo, Regional Director of IGNCA, moderated the session.

Dr. Bangroo in his concluding remarks said that Guru Nanak found the essence of life following the three main principles of Naam japo, Kirat karo and Vand chakko. Naam japo means remembering God through meditation, Kirat karo is earning an honest living and Vand chakko is selflessly serving others and sharing resources.Shri Sumanta S. Sharma proposed the vote of thanks to all the distinguished speakers, guests and participants.
