SMVDU Recognized as Green Champion

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University has been recognized as District Green Champion for the Reasi District of Jammu & Kashmir for the Academic Year 2020-21 by the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. The recognition certificate is received by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ravindra Kumar Sinha, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Reasi Shri S. Charandeep Singh in an online workshop.

In his address, Prof. Sinha thanked the Chairperson, MGNCRE Dr. W. G. Prasanna Kumar and other officials of the Council for the recognition of the successful adoption and implementation of the Swachchhata Action Plan at the SMVDU campus and also the creation of the awareness activities in the nearby villages. He also briefed about various sanitation and plantation drives undertaken by the University campus along with the other social welfare activities in the neighbouring villages.DC Reasi Shri Charandeep Singh congratulated the University for the recognition and said that the other academic institutions of the Reasi district will be inspired by the initiatives of SMVDU and they will also come forward to proactively work in this direction. He also promised to extend full support of the district administration for the activities related to cleanliness, waste management, conservation of water and economical usages of energy resources.

Dr. Anil Tewari, Nodal Officer, Hindi Cell and Dr. Madhu Mangal Chaturvedi, Faculty-in-Charge, University Social Responsibility, SMVDU, were also present on the occasion. More than 50 participants attended the workshop including various authorities from the higher education institutions of the Reasi district. The program was coordinated by Dr. Pallavi Kaul, Programme Coordinator, MGNRCE and the vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Arzoo Tanwar from MGNRCE.
