SMVDU Katra, November 2019. The School of Architecture and Landscape Design (SoALD), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, organized a special session under Industry Institute Interactions for the B. Arch. Students. An expert talk by Mr. Vimal Mahajan, Assistant General Manager, Business Development of Kone Elevators, India, was organized for the learning and industry exposure of the B. Arch. students.
The presentation started with a formal welcome of the team members by the Head, SoALD, Prof (Dr.) Rajeev Garg. The industry expert made an interactive presentation, covering several aspects of planning and application of vertical circulation in buildings, including describing advancements in machines. Students and faculty members enthusiastically participated in the session. Various planning aspects of lifts and escalators were discussed along with an example of largest passenger of 200+ capacity installed by Kone. Also, the role of artificial intelligence in lift traffic planning was deliberated upon during the session. The presentation generated a fruitful discussion. Prof. Garg presented a vote of thanks.
