JNTU Hyderabad and SMVDU review twining under TEQUIP-III

SMVDU Katra: Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University (JNTU) Hyderabad and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) Katra reviewed the initiatives and progress under TEQUIP-III projects on 5th March 2018 at SMVDU. JNTU and SMVDU has been paired as mentor and mentee respectively, for exploring together the better possibilities of achieving the objectives of the TEQUIP-III at SMVDU. It is pertinent to mention here that TEQUIP-III has been started by MHRD with the duration from April 2017 to March 2020 for technical upgradation of selected technical institutions in India, with funding from World Bank, under which SMVDU was selected. The review meeting was chaired by Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor SMVDU.

The review presentation was given by Dr. Sumeet Gupta, Dean Academic Affairs. Experts from JNTU, namely, Prof. N.C. Shivaprakash, Chief Research Scientist IISc Bangalore and Chairman Board of Governors JNTU; Prof. A. Govardhan, Rector, JNTU; Prof. P Srinivasa Rao, Dept. of Civil Engineering JNTU; and Prof. B. Sudheer, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering JNTU; thoroughly appreciated the activities conducted and initiatives taken by SMVDU under the project. Mainly, the best practices of SMVDU, such as benchmarks, inclusion of MOOC and NPTL courses, professional development assistance for faculty, project and outcome based learning, smart classrooms etc. were highly appreciated. Prof. N.C. Shivaprakash was impressed by the students’ diversity on campus, diversity in terms of students coming from 23 states and the diversity of male and female students. Prof. V.K. Bhat Dean Faculty of Sciences and Registrar, Prof. V. Varma, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Prof. D. Mukhopadhyay Dean Faculty of Management, Dr. V.K. Tripathi Dean Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and all Heads of the Department were present in the meeting.
