Holistic Program on Yoga at SMVDU Concludes

A week long yoga training session for students of various schools at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University concluded on Tuesday morning. The program was underway from 24th-31st October to sensitise the young minds about holistic approach of yoga towards life. The program was jointly organized by Yoga and Fitness Club along with NSS of SMVDU in collaboration with Bharitya Yog Sansthan, Jammu. Dr. Suresh Chandra Gupta, Mrs. Suman Gupta, Mr. Vinod, Mr. J.L. Sharma, Col. V.S. Jamwal, Mr. Bireshwar Jamwal, Mrs. Ranjana Zutshi, Mr. Girdhari Lal Sharma, Mr. Ravinder, from Yog Sansthan along with others and Mr. Gurmel from SMVDU were the instructors. Students were taught various sukshma kriyas, asanas, such as padmasana, bhujungasana, setubandhasana, sarpasana, and shavasana. They were also taught pranayams, like nadishodhan, anulom-vilom, and bhramri which are considered to be very beneficial for students. Other than asanas, and pranayams, participants were also taught meditation for enhancing concentration and relieving anxiety disorders and stress. Mr. Sumanta Sarathi Sharma, Faculty Coordinator, NSS, and Dr. Madhu Mangal Chaturvedi, Faculty Coordinator, Yoga and Fitness Club were the coordinators of the event. Ms. Simran Chaudhary, Ms. Medha, Ms. Maihak Pandita, Ms. Shreya Pandita, Ms. Shubhangi Suri, Mr. Akhil Kalsi, Mr. Aman Agrawal, and Mr. Ajit Kumar, were the student volunteers from NSS. Dr. Sanjeev Jain, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, expressed his gratitude to Bhartiya Yog Sansthan Jammu for conducting the program and satisfaction on the successful completion of the program.
