Director, National Institute Design, visits SMVDU

SMVDU Katra: Director of National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmadabad Dr. Pradyumna Vyas visited Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University on 7th April and addressed all the faculty members of the University. In his address he highlighted the various challenges being faced by people from hilly areas. Our country has about 11 hilly states having certain common problems which are different from plain area. Garbage disposal system is another challenge in the hilly areas. There is a lot of scope for mechanical and architecture experts to work on challenges being faced in hilly areas. Present era is the era of 4th industrial revolution marked by digitization of everyone process. In this era, geographical boundaries are to be merged and technology cannot be developed in isolation. Now various experts are working together to produce saleable product. He has also offered to students of SMVDU to work on local problems in collaboration with NID. Lastly he gave mantra for success in three words, i.e., positive attitude, sincere effort and integrity. He has appreciated SMVDU for opening of TBIC for students, entrepreneur to convert their ideas to realization level and finally to commercial level.

Dr. Vyas is a noted academician and technocrat and expert in Industrial Design. He is an alumnus of IIT Bombay and University for the Creative Arts Franham UK and has vast service experience at Kikenny Design Center, Republic of Ireland. He has also served as Member Secretary of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India. The address was attended by faculty members of the University from various departments. The session was followed by extensive interaction. Dr. Sumeet Gupta, Dean Academic Affairs extended a welcome to him. The Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjeev Jain presided over the session and felicitated the speaker in the end. Registrar Prof. V. K. Bhat was also present on the occasion.
