& Kashmir to host over 800 students from allover the state in
two INSPIRE Camps held in April and June, 2010 respectively.
These students were mentored by over 40 eminent scientists from
allover the country. 26 mentors were fellows of multiple science
academies. With these camps we have set yet another quality
benchmark. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is committed to
organize such programme in future as well.
INSPIRE Camp: A Programme for School Children
After the success of the
first Camp (April 19-23, 2010) It is our great pleasure to announce
Second Department of Science & Technology
(DST), GOI sponsored Innovation in
Scientific
Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) Science Internship Camp to be
held in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, from June
25-29, 2010.
INSPIRE is an innovative program of DST for attraction of talent to
science. The basic objective of the INSPIRE camp is to communicate to
the young attendees the excitement of creative pursuits of science and
attract talent to the study of science at an early stage and build the
required critical human resource pool for strengthening and expanding
science and technology system in R&D base.
Under the above scheme SMVDU
is organizing its first INSPIRE science internship summer camp. This
camp is meant for the top 1% performers in class 10th board
examination, and who, are presently pursuing science in XI and XII
standard. All the students will be hosted on our campus. They will be
given exposure with invited fellows of various science academies,
awardees and scientists of national and international repute who will
interact with the students through lectures and interactive sessions.
This would be followed by personal interactions in an exclusive setup
in this camp.
Selected candidates will be accommodated in the SMVDU
Campus during the camp. They will be eligible for TA (as permissible) free local hospitality.
Transport facility is being provided from Saraswati Dham to
Campus and back. It is compulsory for the students who belong to
Jammu District to avail this facility (No TA will be provided to
students who travel on their own from Jammu). Students form
other districts can also make use of our bus service from Jammu
by pre registering for the same via email or sms.
