SMVDU organizes a Five Day FDP on “Use of Tools and Techniques in Research”

A Five Day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Use of Tools and Techniques in Research” was organized by the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) from 28th November to 2nd December, 2016. The programme took place in the gracious presence of Professor Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, who generously accepted the invitation and chaired the inaugural session as Chief Guest. Professor Hardeep Chahel from Department of Commerce, University of Jammu was kind enough to be the Guest of Honour of the programme. In his welcome address, Professor Jain encouraged the participants to utilise the opportunity and explore the new research techniques to enrich their research. Prof. Chahel emphasized the benefits of Faculty Development Programme, illustrating how essential they are for enhancing research knowledge and for publishing good papers.

Adding to the details about the program, Dr. Pabitra Kumar Jena, Course Coordinator of the Programme enlightened the participants about the importance of the use of research tools and techniques in research and how this Programme will benefit them for in-depth understanding of research and its implication in decision making process. The main topics of the programme was importance and scope of research, types of research, steps in the process of research, language issues of research, tools and techniques used in research, testing of hypothesis, tool of data collection, questionnaire design, Introduction to econometric modeling. univariate analysis & bivariate modelling, simple and multiple regression modeling, dummy variable models, limited dependent variable models, times series analysis, stationarity test, VAR & granger causality, tips for writing good paper and publication of empirical papers in indexed and high impact factor journals.
